Don't be surprised in 10 years, when your son who plays football for Clemson is making more money than you do. I don't see the NCAA being able to keep their iron grip on players for much longer. Despite how popular the NCAA is, it will eventually have to cave to our "woke" culture. Is that a bad thing? Yes, in my opinion it is.
I believe that student athletes will be given the opportunity to be paid to play the sports they love and excel at within the next 10 years. 2020 and 2021 have brought on what is, in my opinion, excessive amounts of change. This is obviously pushed primarily by the Coronavirus, but also by the woke culture we live in. The NCAA is sitting on a ticking time bomb. That bomb is their athletes. Without a doubt, college students will be offered more than a scholarship to participate in sports at college. How that will work with title IX, I don't know. But it will happen.
For starters, I work two jobs and go to school. While it is difficult and time consuming, I can somewhat handle it all. I have enough time to do it all most days. Most student athletes, especially at the elite level, don't have the luxury of time. They are at practice or class almost every second of every day. It's going to eventually spill over so that the athletes need to be paid in order to continue playing.
Mark my words, the NCAA is going to no longer hold onto their students as much as they have been. Student athletes are going to get aid eventually. I would wager it will happen in the next ten years, if not in the next 2 or 3.
