Boise, Idaho - The Southern Utah University Women's Basketball Team beat the University of Montana in the first round of the big sky tournament on March 11. Bringing home a score of 64-56, SUU will continue in the tournament with a solid win against a team that did quite a bit better than them throughout the main season.

The SUU Thunderbirds started out the game with a good lead in the first quarter at 20-11. Their trend of scoring more than the Montana Griz continued into the second quarter with the scoring total coming to 13-12.

In the second half the Thunderbirds struggled to score more than Montana but with a scoring tie in the fourth quarter, the Thunderbirds were able to keep an 8 point lead in the end.

This game will move the Thunderbirds up in the ranks of the tournament, they will face the Northern Colorado Bears on March 12, hopefully with another strong win to propel them further in the tournament.
